2022 Retro Construction Regulations

Post by Mark Fox »

2022 - RULE UPDATE & APPROVED BODIES LISTING

I have updated the Retro Construction Regulations that have been out there for a while

The updated version is essentially identical to that last posted however there are a few clarifications included and some small changes.

There are three distinct alterations: -

Chassis Construction

Regulation CA -2a
Materials
Non structural PCB such as used in the "Scale" car racing and/or earring butterfly clips may be used for lead wire management.

Regulation CA -2d
Bearings
I have been made aware that quite a large number of Retro cars have been purchased from the USA and many of these have been fitted with ball races in the rear.
You may keep them in and not go through the palaver of changing to oilites and the rules have been changed to reflect this.

Regulation CA-7b
Tape / Lead
This regulation previously stated that any tape must be applied to the top of the chassis only has never been enforced.
To accept the common practice of how tape is actually used you may now use tape which is on the bottom of the car to moderate body or chassis movement so long as the clearance rules are adhered to.

Approved Body lists are also included below.

Thanks Stoo and Neil.

As previously mentioned these Regs were initiated by Wayne proposing a Worlds Retro Race next year and also the introduction of the RetorPro Class at Raceworld.

We needed a set of Regs that brokered no inconsistencies/anomalies and were simple and concise. At the same time they needed to be realistic wrt to what has been happening in reality.

I recognise that there is no governing body or rules committee for Retro Racing and so it has thus fallen to the individual track owner / race organiser to determine what actually happens. In reality I don't think this will change when it comes to track sponsored club series etc and neither is their a compelling argument that it should.

HOWEVER I believe it is absolutely critical for events that are along the lines of State Titles, National Titles and World Titles that there is a consistently applied set of Regs so as anybody attending these races will know what to expect and more importantly know that all competitors are are on the same playing field.

I am certain from my discussions with him that Wayne is keen to get the ball rolling on this basis and that the Retro Nationals in October (which includes a RetroPro Race) will definitely be run according to these Regs.

Hmmm,... NO and the 'links' don't seem to function via the US SlotBlog site either :(

Will Have to Investigate and see if we can provide appropriate 'Links' or List.

I think part of the 'Issue', is that the SCRRA as it Was,.. no longer really exists.
So perhaps that is partly to do with the 'Broken' links.

Here is a 'link' to the IRRA Approved body list pdf, which should at least give you Some guide,.. the reason behind the use of the SCRRA list was simply that it was Less Restrictive AND was based on and around the 'Group' that basically started the whole Retro 'Movement' :)
