2020 NSW Retro Titles Round 2 (BTR) 28/11/2020

Hi All

The 2nd round of the 2020 Retro Titles was held on the Big Track at HSC.

Seven Starters for both classes including Wayne Bramble and Steve King who had not been sighted for some time for various reasons - was good to see them again combining with the usual suspects of Stoo, Joe, Darryl and myself.

CanAm

Qualifying

Close with 4 in the 5.7's which was slow compared with mid-week practice where I was into the 5.4's but anyway I got the gong edging out Darryl,Wayne and Joe.

Joe smoked them here with an all the way win by 13 laps.

Charles, Steve and Stoo really mixed it up and had a great race between them. Steve held down 2nd for 5 brackets when Charles broke away which saw him taking control of 2nd spot with Stoo 3rd. Steve recovered from his average run in the 6th to relegate Stoo to 4th after holding down 3rd for most of the race.

I gradually drew away from Wayne followed by Darryl for the whole race to win by 6 laps while they in turn had a monumental battle.

There was never more than a lap between 2nd and 3rd in the whole race with Wayne heading Darryl all the way until - the final bracket when Darryl got in front and held on by .108 sec

Again the top 4 were really close with Wayne taking the honours this time.

Apart from the 1st bracket where he was 2nd on the same lap as Darryl this was Stoo's race all the way to finish 2 laps up on Steve and a further 2 on Darryl.

Steve and Darryl were very even and on the same lap for the 6th and 7th when Steve came home hard in the 8th with a 30 to Darryl's 28 to seal 2nd spot.

Charles was slightly of the pace but drove well to finish only 5 laps down on Darryl for 4th.

This was a great race between Wayne and myself with Joe just a little unlucky at stages.

Wayne and I were never more than a lap apart except for the 3rd bracket when I had a 2 lap lead after Wayne had all sorts of trouble driving Black. I managed to hold a reasonable lead which I substantially blew by de-slotting twice on White so going into the last bracket I just led. All ok until I de-slot on Red and Wayne makes no mistake.

Great racing with the 'State Titles' going as follows

Can-Am
1st Mark (2 wins for 42)
2nd Darryl (1 second and a third for 37)
3rd Stoo (1 third and a seventh for 32)
Just for the record Charles R also finished on 32 (for 2 fifths) but Stoo takes 3rd spot on the basis of the highest placing

F1
1st Mark (1 win and a second for 40)
2nd Stoo (1 third and a fourth for 35)
3rd Darryl (1 second and a sixth for 34)
