Just 'messing' about trying to 'suss' the Outcome's of a couple of bbcodes, (for Posting)

"pre" is for Pre-Formatted Text, but Doesn't really Seem to work how you would expect, perhaps.

Is always difficult to 'present' race places and totals in an Ordered fashion,.. lol

Didn't really expect anyone to respond,.. :D

Yeah,.. understood, but They DO take up quite a bit of Space / Scrolling time to get past !!,.. :D

I have Yet to 'setup' the Printer/Scanner on this particular machine else I would probably have done similar (and may yet do/add them, when I have).
As there Are some useful BBcode's, figured I'd see what I could 'generate' etc.

It started, as I had 'Pre-Typed' one of my 'Posts' in Wordpad, only to find the underlying HTML Compressed/removed the 'White Spacing' (Spaces) or (Tabs) I had used to 'Format' the Results/placings.

Took a few incarnations/methods, but as you can see it is at least 'Close' !!,.. :D
Still requires a slight bit of 'Massaging' :)
The code in the last example, Indents, Adds the Numbers and maintains the included White Space.
Just wanted to get a 'handle' on it's usage as it's Handy for other things as well.

Use the Code tags, they reserve white spaces and use a non-proportional font (Courier).

Code: Select all

Stoo 177 laps
Mark 176 laps
Darryl 176 laps
Gregg 177 laps
Steve K 176 laps
Matthew F 176 laps
HTML will only display one white space character in a row unless you do things to circumvent this default behaviour. ie using

Hey Hi Greg, thanks for that.

I had considered trying the "code" tag, just hadn't yet gotten around to it.

Seems to work well,.. :D

You can copy and paste the text from the race results with this tag and they'll be formatted correctly.

Takes up a lot less space than posting scans.

Well,.. firstly, Thanks for the 'Input' guys :)

I had not 'intended' for anyone to have interacted as such, as I was simply 'playing' myself and Had intended to have Deleted the 'posts'.

Hey Gary, do you mean the 'code' Tag ??

Perhaps so,.. IF you happen to have an electronic Copy of the results.
Invariably, either Fox or myself, would Only have a 'Printed' copy of the Results requiring it to either be 'Scanned' and uploaded as a jpeg or entered Manually.

Maybe James could cut/paste (on the night) the results from the screen, to text editor and save to file.
Or is it possible for James to save results to Excel/Word etc?

Well,.. at one stage some time ago, (with the old system) I WAS actually getting an electronic copy on my USB.

The New Program already formats and Saves the Results as a text file, and Stores them by date on the PC. Am unsure about Other outputs.
In fact, it may even be able to email them ??,...
