Re: 2017 SRC - Round #1

Stoo, yep, all tracks were the same as HSC with right braid positive. As commercial tracks dissappeared, then a few new ones started up again, they wired their tracks like the US, and homeset tracks, with left braid positve. SSME and HSC were still right braid positive, and on the SSME open days, we...

Re: A Bit Slow

Brad, I think its a smidge longer @ 35.1m lap length, and has banking on the fast turns, so cars can be geared closer to the HSC big track. I think the HSC small track is about 33.5m, so pretty close. The tricky part of the track to master, is the section from the end of the driver straight through ...

Re: A Bit Slow

Yeah Brad, Luddenham is a long way for nearly everyone, but the track is great, and worth the trip.

Re: Revised Retro Calendar (Including Luddenham SRC Rounds)

Dunno. Ron or James??? That's one of the reasons I asked the question. Also curious to know who is prepping the track. Last time I was there (18mths ago), it had been cleaned dry, and there was no conditioning on it, all but a few dabs of glue on the entry to the turns. Hopefully, things will be bet...

Re: Revised Retro Calendar (Including Luddenham SRC Rounds)

I guess we leave the running of the night up to the race director.

Re: Revised Retro Calendar (Including Luddenham SRC Rounds)

I don't think there will be any current Luddenham guys racing (hope I'm wrong), but I think it would be up to Ron to say.
It is a nice track to run the right direction.

Re: Revised Retro Calendar (Included Luddenham SRC Rounds)

Just curious.. :?

Which direction will we be racing?
-Normal for SSME = opposite to Hornsby (need to reverse wiring), or
-Reverse for SSME = same as Hornsby (no need to reverse wiring)

I will bring adaptors for controller plugs if anyone needs them.

Re: Slick 7 F1 Build

Interesting info on mounting donuts.
I've always used plain old turps with tuna donuts on my flexi cars, and it gives plenty of time to center the tyre and get it pretty even on the hub.
Worth a try.

Re: Slick 7 F1 Build

Mark, OK, that's cool. I was looking at the regs on the Hornsby site, which is what I thought was the "Official" set. Didn't realise we were working on the US regs, which I'm totally aware of, and like. Looks like there needs to be some clarification on what's official for racing in the se...

Re: Slick 7 F1 Build

Looks good Mark, simple and clean build.

Is the Parma Matra an approved body?
I can't see any Parma bodies on the approved list.

Just curious, because I've been looking over the regs, getting my brain back in gear...

Re: RIP Paul Sterrett.

For those unaware of Paul Sterrett, he was the guy who came up with the concept of Retro racing in 2005, and was the driving force to get it going, with the help of a few other great pro's from the 60's. THE first D3 race, May 27, 2006, in California. If it wasn't for Paul, we would not be enjoying ...
