Xmas Race on the Kingleman in Woolongong

Post by stoo23 »

Edit:

NB:This 'Event' is Now scheduled for Sunday 15th December, see here; viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1536 EDIT: Link Broken

Troy is also be keen to Include some SRC 'Events at his track next year BUT (as has generally been Agreed) that as Tuesday evenings are 'appropriate', to be traveling so far South for many of us and similarly he figured that for this December event that the Weekend (SUNDAY Mornings), would be far better/easier traveling and timing wise.

This upcoming 'Event', should help everyone get a Feel for the 'Process etc and as 'suggested' elsewhere,.. as the Centre Opens at 9.30am, IF everyone HAS Arrived and are 'Ready', (PRIOR to the Scheduled Retro Heat 1 Start time of 11am SHARP !!), we could Start a bit Earlier !!??

The Track (being an Older Gary Johnson built track from around the late 80's / early 90's) Looks Great !! (having been re-braided / Cabled and re-finished) and Looks So Smooth and is running the new Johnson Racing System/Timers as at SSME & HSC.

For All of those Normally attending and racing in the SRC,.. here is a Great chance to race on a Great,.. Older, But NEW track that should provide some Great racing as it did for many years when it was when at Mobile raceways in Victoria.

It was and Is a very Fast and Smooth extremely well built track, with the same 'Style' of lane routing as on Both the HSC tracks.

They used to run Our style of Retro cars on this track when at Mobile raceways and GT-1's should be fantastic and arguably Ideal for this style of track so Should (In Theory), make for some great Racing.

The Track / Karting Centre is actually 'Located' in Kembla Grange visible from and just Off the "Princess Hwy", but if you 'SEE' it on your Right, then you have gone too far !!,..

Here are the 'links' to some Pics of the track (as it is Now) and to Troy's Woolongong Karting Centre, (where the track is situated).

I could be tempted for sure - the track looks great for Flexies and Fast Retros (Retro Hawk motor - maybe Retro Pro but not many have these).

Yes,.. perhaps so, regarding the JK Retro Hawk motors, but Many / Most of the guys normally running in the SRC events, may Not actually have them, compared to the Normal Retro cars they run in the Normal SRC events.

As mentioned, they used to run Retro's in Melbourne on this track when still running Cheetah 2's !!

That said, I do ofcourse tend to agree with you regarding Retro Pro's,.. but then that is another matter altogether,..lol

I think, for what would be an 'Inaugural' Initial (sort of test Race), keeping it similar to a Standard SRC style event, would allow for the Most numbers of possible attendees, as almost Everyone that might be interested, Has Both a Normal Retro and a GT-1 :)
