Great racing in Ams with Sam Benny scoring the win only 1 lap ahead of Peter in 2nd with Ross 3rd.

Caine also managed to just squeeze past the locals to win Pro on 214 laps only 5 seconds ahead of Nick and Ken - all on the same lap. Caine has developed FAST as he won Ams the previous event at Seagulls and was promoted to Pro – bugger we should have left him in Am.

Nick top qualified after Ken was in P1 and parked his car after 2 laps – Nick then set off and after grinding down his times for the full minute just managed to pip Ken by 0.016 of a second on his last lap. Kim was stoked to pull down 3rd spot with another Qld Mick Loaner.

In Am’s Ross’s win on 216 lap promotes him to Pro for the subsequent events. Good drive mate. Peter Hall a well earned 2nd place on 213 laps and Steve not far behind on 212 laps.

In the A Main; Ken first on 225, Nick second on 222 and Caine third on 219 for the Pro Podium.

A new class and the first effort for a big brushless race at Seagulls and running: -
JK Aeolos chassis with JK LMP or GT1 bodies (I think every entry ran the Dyson Mazda)
KC 3.2KV motor
Mostly Westrock boards
Max tyre diameter of 720 with fixed 14/34 gearing

Charles took Concours.

Kim had a bit of a brain malfunction in race control having set the computer’s breakout to 5.000 so Rick missed a couple of fast lap times during his qualifying run. After a computer reset Rick then TQ’d with a 4.974.

Very close with top 5 cars finishing within 0.010 sec of each other.

In Am Ross did a repeat win of the warm up race held a couple of weeks ago to take Am , 2nd was Peter Hall adding another trophy to his successful weekend and Sam in 3rd after a bad start with a lead wire failure on lap 4 which probably cost him the win.

Rick took out the A main and 1st Pro position. Only two laps behind was Ken and Caine a further lap back followed by Kim who all managed to go under 5 seconds in the race.

Everyone was pretty happy with with their BL cars with 12 turning up for the event. Racing was so the clean that I had a micro Nanna nap and knocked Charles’ car off with my elbow while marshaling – it was the only time I had to marshall in the race.

No mechanical failures and super close racing shows this class has a real future.

In scrutineering all cars were rev checked at 10 volts to find there was only about 300 rpm different across the 12 cars. ( that’s about 2 % variance ).
Interestingly, two of slowest revving cars went on to TQ and be on the podium. All in all a great start for brushless racing.

Cheers
Regards - Mark 8-)
