One Good thing though, is after all the Earlier Production Units of the UK ESC / Speed Controller pretty much being All 'Snapped Up' and Sold in the UK and Europe, they have started to try and Put them into (at the Moment), Ongoing Production, although Still being Hand Built and Programmed and have made a Special 'Purchase Site' available.

Some opinions from my own experimenting -

You don't need anything bigger than an 110x motor. 1106 is a good size.

Choose motor kv according to car weight and body configuration. 6000k and up are for light weight cars with some downforce, flexis and up.

For model type cars, heavy with no downforce, probably best to stick with 4000k and under. It's difficult to gear a heavy car with large diameter tyres for a 6000k motor and it won't be nice to drive.

Use a spacer between the pinion and bearing.

I actually like motors with the wrong (1.5mm) shaft. Changing the shaft is easy and I can pre cut a 2mm shaft to the length I want instead of trying to cut it on the motor and filling it with steel dust.

Old school racer from way back . I had a local racer set up a brushless flexi to run with the Hawk7 class around our club track . In the heat of competition the car did very well . From memory it is a 3200kv and geared for the track nicely . I love our club philosophy of not reinventing the wheel , just changing the old steel rim to a modern alloy one . Continual testing of combinations is appreciated as they are finding bolt in solutions for us all . I would not consider having to change shafts etc as you have mentioned . That level of setting up can be left to you so called professionals . Adding the brushless option along side the current `can` cars is working well as it reduces the lottery of getting sealed motor equality . I think your suggestions for brushless motor sizing for class is over the top to promote fun racing . To each their own but i reckon this new era can be better promoted for reliability and economy over time rather than BRUSHLESS EQUALS MAX SPEED . Wing car philosophies are detrimental to the common everyday slot racer .We want it affordable and reliable and fun . I love racing at my club for exactly these reasons and glad they are introducing brushless technology wisely .

I think you misunderstood me or maybe I wasn't clear, I'm trying warn club racers away from high kv motors because you will need downforce, and I know too well how that story ends.

Sorry Garry , my statement about so called professionals was in no way aimed at driving abilities or lack there of . It was meant to indicate that there are very limited 'scratch/high tech builders out there that are capable or willing to make the intricate modifications you mention . No offense meant . On a side note , i see you have changed your handle to Boss , i thought Stoo was the glue holding this place together and doing a great job i might add . I hope he continues to nurture our hobby as he has done in the past . No room for big heads or big ego's in this hobby community , that is what drove many of us away over the years . I am back for the friendly competition and great atmosphere at my local track with both young and old side by side . Just my 2c .
