Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

Stooo, You would have loved the 350 footer set up at the Sydney Showground in 1966, it was the size track you could use a GLOBE screamer on. Wound 36Ds went pretty good as well. Then there was the beautiful track in Brunswick/Coberg built by the same people who built both the Kings Cross and Hurlsto...

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

I basically go for the idea of not playing musical chairs with rules and I come from an era where you had one set of rules that was applied to all body types, sports, coupes, sedans (with minimum wheelbase) and open wheel cars (no exposed chassis) etc ... While I fail to understand why there was eve...

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

Kingy, > the only other difference is minimum weight of car is 110 grams. Why is there a change in the rules with different bodies ? The rules we have been racing to date have a 100 gram minimum limit. I have popped cars so far as light as 92 grams complete and weight them up to what I want, the new...

Re: Racing at Other Tracks ??

Hi Guys, Don't be afraid to join Plucka's forum either, he speaks English, doesn't bite and even answers questions. http://www.wsmcr.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=80 The track looks great, Kingy has already had a play on it and liked it so it should be fun to drive retro cars on it. Re...

Re: DIY Tyre Truer

:D

Kingy,

It might have just a bit to do with the motor being 3 times the size as well. I like the small one you posted, its portable and would be very useful at a track if you needed to touch up some tires.

Re: Tiny piece of software to calculate weight transfer ratios.

Kingy, Thanks for the link, it was the same one that Fox gave me. Difference is you can use the small binary without connecting to the internet and it has a higher level of precision than can be delivered by a JAVA app on the internet, not that it matters all that much with the task at hand. Regards...

Re: Tiny piece of software to calculate weight transfer ratios.

This is the next toy that may be useful to someone, it takes as arguments, the pinion, gear and tire diameter and outputs the result as the distance travelled with one (1) turn of the motor. Will accept either metric or inch due to the calculation order and the output distance will be in the same un...

Re: Is it retros this sat night

Stooo, Read my new post in a seperate topic, saves me retyping it. I differ from others who have ended up pissed off in that I will say why. The whole idea of retro racing is to avoid the complexities of picking tires for tracks, thats what spray goo is about, making the traction conditions the same...

Traction, tricks and old memories

A long time ago in another world in the middle 1960s slot car racing hit Sydney with a vengeance and at its peak saw nearly 300 tracks in the metropolitan area. After a stretch of individual tracks putting on their own races in conflict with each other, the NSWMRRA produced a calender of racing so t...

Tiny piece of software to calculate weight transfer ratios.

I earnt my living over the last 18 years writing software so it was no big deal to write a small toy to save me from having to do a task in the Windows calculator. Its a simple dialog that accepts 2 floating point numbers which are units in grams. Weigh your car both ends and type the numbers in the...

Re: Is it retros this sat night

:D Kingy, I in fact turned up with 3 types of tires, Alpha large rim which I ended up using, 2 pairs of plastic rim JK tires and a pair of Alpha donuts glued to wheels that I manufacture. Cleaned and rolled in the gooed sections of the track corners I could straight line wheelspin all of them. My li...

Re: Is it retros this sat night

Cody has built a good car and he drove it well but I am not without a complaint over the condition of the track. After practicng during the week and build 4 cars so I had a choice of what to run, the track was again cleaned before the race which made the track too slippery for any of my cars, partic...

Re: Retro Racing in Melbourne

Geoff, If you can arrange it, get someone with a digital camera to take some photos of the track and post them in the Tracks section of this ASCRA forum, then we will know what the track looks like. I remember the guys who came up last year to Hornsby and they had some good cars and they certainly c...
