Draught OZclassic rules

This is an early draught of the suggested OZclassic rules. There has been input from both Lindsay Byron and Mark Fox on the front wheel size so I wrote 5/8 (0.625") into the front wheel size limit. The draught rules do not yet specify any rules about the bodies or the cutoff date and the area o...

Re: Lets construct an AUSTRALIAN class.

Bantam Jack has just posted a 1975 version of the VSCA rules on the Melbourne forum site. here are the direct links so you can have a look at 1975 rules. John is the right man here as he was the secretary of the VSCA. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff271/bantamjack/1975regulations001.jpg http://...

Re: Lets construct an AUSTRALIAN class.

The last cars I was running in the 70s had conical section front wheels with O rings that were just over a half an inch which worked fine but I fear that some of the guys who like cars that look a bit more realistic would not be happy with them that small. I remember that I bought a pair of drag fro...

Re: Lets construct an AUSTRALIAN class.

Kingy, The bare outline is reasonably close to the old NSWMRRA rules but there were differences, 3 and 3/8 used to be the B grade width limit and I remember running half inch front wheels in NSW that were illegal in Victoria. I suggested the 750 wheel size front and back for 2 reasons, it suits the ...

Lets construct an AUSTRALIAN class.

I have on and off mentioned this idea to a few old friends who like racing cars that you can build yourself but without the need to morgage your house to fund it. While Aussie retro comes close to a style of racing that existed in the late 60s, it misses the mark in that it represents American racin...

Re: HSC Retro Non Championship rnd

Gary, > Maybe you guys should rename it "The Ti22 Class". I opt for something like formula libre where if you can get a body from the right period onto a chassis you can run it. Coupes, sports cars, Can Am, sports sedans, even open wheelers if you can suffer them. None the less I can't be ...

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

Kingy, I doubt we disagree over much, while everyone has different mileage, most who come to retro racing do so to have fun, race against other like minded friends and enjoy themselves at reasonable cost. I can't see any insurmountable problems maintaining a set of rules for retro racing that achiev...

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

Kingy, By 1969 you had the full range of chassis designs, inlines, reduction geared inlines(Dave Rittie), full sidewinders, dual pinion sidewinders(Geoff Howland at Glendale) and early anglewinders using Mura A cans and Cox gears. I don't remember any tooth belt or rubber band drives back then. Diff...

Kingy,

Probably not but elucidate a little so at least I know what the difference is.

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

Kingy, I have a PDF that Fox sent me with the current set of specs for Aussia Retro and I do know my way around them reasonably well as I had to build cars that were within the class specs. While I am happy to see them not being changed willy nilly and was pleased to hear that James will be running ...

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

Stooo, The only person getting upset here is you and I don't understand why. Its common for forum topic to wander slightly so there was nothing wrong with your original question, its just that the topic evolved. I am more than happy to try and give Kingy a hand in terms of the rules and the more fee...

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

Stooo, Now you have me worried, this IS a friendly discussion between people who all know each other and the general idea was to give Kingy a hand managing the rules for retro so that the class would continue to thrive rather than go downhill as it is at the moment. The whole idea of doing something...

Re: Coupe bodies Next ?

The thing I am having trouble with is the notion of a new set of rules for every body type, we have a working set of rules that has been used with the Can Am cars, why mess it up with a new set of rules for Coupes, then a new set of rules for sedans then a new set of rules for open wheelers ? Coupe ...
