Re: SNEAK PEEK ~ NEW IMPROVED KING WILLYS

So resurfaced/repainted as well (grippier?)

And is that a bit of banking I see in the deadman and finger?

This could require a different car setup.

Re: US Nats

Well done Lindsay, looks like you were in the first heat which makes it harder.

Les used Koford "Spec" tires I see.

Re: US Nats

Good luck in the "big" races Lindsay.

PA said that the maximum duro tires racers ordered for the track were 34's and many had ordered smaller than max hubs.

What happened to you in the Geezer race.

Nats?

Can't seem to find any Mackay Nats results anywhere, was there a race?

Re: 2015 NATS

Info was good on Raceworld's Facebook up until Wing 12, then nothing, guess I'll have to ring Lindsay this morning.

Re: Australian Nats Rotation

Unfortunately I have to agree with Gary. The track does not have enough grip to run the high powered motors in a wing car.

Re: Holes in tyres or your wallet

One would hope that with all the discussion in the US that some affordable alternative will eventuate. IMO if there was a rule change banning large hubs, then there should be a transition period for those who have purchased a lot of tires. Also there has to be competition in the market, so allowing ...

Re: Thoughts Box 12

Adrian, excellent comments from your perspective. Chadly, I think you will find that (as per Scaleautro 8 hour events) sponge tires last much longer on a smooth "spray glue" surface all around the world than any hard rubber tires on "sandpaper" type tracks. Australia seems to be ...

Re: Any news from Adelaide?

FYI,
Caught up with most of the guys who used to race at Redline at John's funeral. Was great to talk about the good old days of Wing racing in S.A. and our interstate trips.

Re: Any news from Adelaide?

Timmy, Thanks again for your kind offer. John Ward, Derek Lamb ( I built two 27L cars for him) and myself were planning to come over for the Vic State Titles. John's death and Derek's transfer to Sydney with the RAAF made it impossible. Still hope to get over there in Autumn. Are you guys running in...

Re: Any news from Adelaide?

PJ,

They have Flexi races on Saturday afternoons. Spray glue prep has been very light.

Not enough grip on the track (no traction compound allowed) to be able run Wings fast at this stage so I doubt that any enthusiasm for a wing racing will happen in the short term.

Re: What makes a good wing car?

Thanks for the info Tim. Something to note that the 4.60" Koford chassis also has thinner rails (more bite) than all of their shorter Grp 27 Light chassis. A lot of racers on the hi speed tracks in the US have been using 4 thou wings (ala Emerson winning the US Nats, Camen dimpled Supro, no rib...

Re: Sad News, John Ward

John was very keen to get back into Wing Car racing and already had a couple of quick new 27's.

We were planning on going to Melbourne to test our cars shortly and discussing what we'd need in equipment for the Nats next year, also we were talking about designing two new wingcar bodies.

Sad News, John Ward

Have just heard that my mate of 40 years, John Ward, passed away suddenly at his home last night. John and I were good friends and team mates since the 70's, both of us having a passion for both racing slotcars and playing and coaching basketball together. We went on many slot racing trips with each...
